ICTR/JUDGES - ICTR JUDGES REELECT ERIK MOSE AS HEAD OF THE TRIBUNAL

Arusha 21 May 2005, (FH) – Norwegian Erik Møse was reelected on Saturday as the President of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) by the 25 judges of the Tribunal and its Appeals Chamber, who met on Saturday for a plenary session in Arusha where the tribunal is based, announced the spokesperson of the tribunal Roland Amoussouga.

The post of vice president went to Arlette Ramaroson from Madagascar. Both elections were by consensus, the spokesperson told Hirondelle news agency.

Judge Ramaroson became a Judge at the ICTR in May 2001. She has since served as a member of Trial Chamber II. Prior to joining the ICTR, she was the President of the Criminal Division of the Court of Appeal and Acting President of the Supreme Court Criminal Division in Madagascar.
